Bible Lessons on "The Eldership"
Introduction. Religious groups that fall under the broad category of "Christianity" have a wide variety of organizational structures at the local level, especially related to the leadership of the congregation. These include having a one person in charge (e.g., "priest", "pastor", "bishop", "Reverend", "preacher"), a board of deacons (Baptist), a mixed committee of men & women, and so on. But has God provided thru His Word any guidance or pattern for local congregations to follow?
This in-depth series of lessons examines this subject from a scriptural perspective. Special emphasis initially is given to properly defining Biblical terms like "pastor", "shepherd", "bishop", and "elder". This followed by a lengthy examination of the scripturally required qualifications for the leaders of a local congregation. FInally , the study focuses on the work or responsibilities of the elders.
