Can you comment on disappointment?

Introduction. Life often abounds with disappointment. We are disappointed with our government, children, parents, with our friends, or with people in general. In this vein, allow me to contrast man and God.

The weakness of man and the power of God. All men sin (Rom. 3: 23). Jesus dealt with the weaknesses of men, even his own apostles (Luke 23: 34). Man sometimes means well, but man is often given to failure, causing disappointment to others. However, God is able and powerful. Paul wrote of God, "...the weakness of God is stronger than men" (I Cor. 1: 25).

Man's instability and God's resoluteness. Man is too often unstable (Eph. 4: 14, Jas. 1: 8, 6, 7). Man may present himself one way and be the opposite the next day! The truth is, life in general is some what unstable and unpredictable (Jas. 4: 13-16). Notwithstanding, God is resolute. Hear James: "...cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning" (Jas. 1: 17).

Man too often lies, but God does not lie. The scriptures forbid lying (Col. 3: 8). Nonetheless, out of greed, pleasure, or self-defense many men lie. Some become consummate liars. Such affects the lives of others, creating problems and disappointment in their lives. God not only does not lie, he cannot lie (Heb. 6: 18).

Conclusion. We will never totally remove ourselves from unreliability and disappointment in this life. However, we can find dependability with God. Believe Jesus is God's Son, repent, confess Christ, and be baptized for forgiveness of sin (John 8: 24, Luke 13: 3,5, Rom. 10: 9, 10, Acts 2: 38). The Lord will add you to his church (Acts 2: 47, KJV). As God's child, you can enjoy his watch care and protection (I Pet. 3: 12). God can add constancy to your life (Heb. 13: 8).
