Does Jesus care?
Introduction. Jesus is the Son of God (Matt. 16: 13-18), Emmanuel (Matt. 1: 23), and reigning King of kings (Acts 2: 30-36; 1 Tim 6: 15). This same Jesus was sinless and shall be the judge of all (Heb. 4: 15; John 5: 22). Give his elevated character and position, we might wonder whether such a being can actually and really care for sinful man, including ourselves?
Jesus displayed care when He divested Himself of heaven's glory. Jesus' pre-incarnation is beyond doubt taught (John 1:1-5; 1 John 1: 1-4). Jesus as the Word was with God and was God (divine) before He came to earth. Notice why Jesus came to earth: "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich:" (2 Cor. 8: 9). Jesus cared for us so much that He gave His own life (Rom. 5: 5-8).
Jesus expressed His care in His teaching and doctrinal purity. Indeed, Jesus was a teacher (Matt. 4: 23). Out of care for those whom He taught, Jesus told people want they needed to hear, not just what they wanted to hear (cf. Matt. 19: 16-22). Some heeded Him while some hated Him (Matt. 8: 1; 21: 45-46). Above all, Jesus presented only the pure truth (Matt. 19: 3-10; 2 John 9-11).
Jesus shows His care in His role as the High Priest. Jesus is a "merciful" and "faithful high priest" (Heb. 2: 17). Jesus is also said to be a "great high priest" (Heb. 4: 14). Moreover, Jesus is described as being able to "be touched with the feeling of our infirmities" (Heb. 4: 15).
Conclusion. Jesus cares for you and me beyond this writer's ability to express and beyond our ability to comprehend! In gratitude, do you care for Him? Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments" (John 14: 15). According to John, "For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments..." (1 John 5: 3). Why not learn of Jesus and experience his care (Jude 21)?
