What if there is life on Mars?
Introduction. A team of NASA scientists on August 7 ('96) released their belief that based on a cursory examination of a rock which they believe came from Mars that there was possibly "life" on Mars. It should be made clear that at this time, the scientists are not claiming to have found evidence of past life, but what they believe could be evidence indicative of life. Even if such becomes evidence of biological life, we are told by scientists that such would still not prove life, as we think of life, once existed on Mars.
The teaching of the Bible. When one considers the sixty-six books comprising the Bible, the only reference one can find regarding an inhibited "planet" is to earth. It is obvious original creation occurred on earth, as far as we are told (Gen. 1-3). This earth is suited, by God, to be man's dwelling place (Acts 17:26).
What if there is life on other planets? As mentioned, the Bible does not say anything about "life" on other planets. Also, all the Bible does say only mentions earth. However, if there should be "life," what of it? Should people cease believing in God as the Creator? Should they accept atheism as their belief system?
Surely, intelligent people do not expect to find humans elsewhere in space, or do they? The truth of the matter is what is revealed belongs to man, the matters not revealed, belong to God (Deut, 29: 29). Beloved, billions of tax dollars, your money, is being spent in space exploration to determine the origin of life. Now, I am not opposed to my tax dollars being used, in part, to explore space. However, the Bible tells us of man's origin (Gen. 1-3).
The Christian had nothing to fear from science. However, the Christian demands knowledge, not wild speculation (1 Thes. 5: 21). True science has repeatedly proved the Bible. Christians have nothing to fear!
