What if there is life on Mars?

Introduction. A team of NASA scientists in 1996 released their belief that based on an examination of a rock which they believe came from Mars that there was possibly life on Mars. The scientists are not claiming to have found evidence of past life, but what they believe could be evidence indicative of life. Regardless, there is considerable scientific and popular interest about finding life on other planets, to include intelligent extraterrestrials.

The teaching of the Bible. The only reference in the Bible that one can find regarding an inhibited planet is the earth. In Gen. 1-3 we read about God's creation of the universe, the earth, and all life on earth to include mankind. This earth is suited by God to be man's dwelling place (Acts 17:26).

What if there is life on other planets? As mentioned, the Bible does not say anything about life on other planets. However, if life elsewhere was detected, should people cease believing in God as the Creator? Should they accept atheism as their belief system? The truth of the matter is what is revealed via the scriptures belongs to man, the matters not revealed belong to God (Deut, 29: 29). The silence of the scriptures should not be taken as absolute proof God didn't create life elsewhere.

The Christian has nothing to fear from science. However, the Christian demands knowledge, not wild speculation (1 Thes. 5: 21). True science has repeatedly proved the Bible. Christians have nothing to fear!
