Why do you think there is only one way?
Introduction. Our querist is right when he represents your writer as believing there is only one way. Of course, what I believe is relatively unimportant compared to what the scriptures as God's authority actually teach.
One is an adjective of singularity. In simple terms, we understand one is one as opposed to two or more. The scriptures abound with the statement "there is one God" (Jas. 2: 19; cf. Deut. 6: 4). There are many gods (idolatry), but only one true God (Isa. 46: 5-10). There is one shepherd (John 10:16), one mediator (1 Tim. 2: 5), and one lawgiver (Jas. 4: 12).
Religious unity is contingent on only one way or system. The scriptures require unity of believers (Eph. 4: 3). This unity is made possible and is based on "One body" (church, Eph. 4: 4; cf. Eph. 1: 22-23), "one spirit," "one hope of your calling" (heaven, Col. 1: 5), "one Lord" (Jesus, cf. Eph. 3: 14), "one faith" (gospel, Jude 3), "one baptism" (in water for forgiveness, Acts 2: 38; 1 Pet. 3: 21), and "one God and Father" (Eph. 4: 4-6). Jesus prayed that his followers would be one "that the world may believe that thou hast sent me" (John 17: 20-21). There was only one way (correct way) in the first Century. Paul taught "everywhere in every church" (1 Cor. 4: 17). Paul did not teach something different everywhere he went (Gal. 1: 6-9). Denominationalism, as we know it, did not exist - there was only one church, teaching the same doctrine and practicing the same beliefs.
Conclusion. I know Americans have been led to believe in multiplicity and diversity. We are told that those who believe in only one way or truth are radical, wrong or even dangerous. I believe there is one way because the scriptures say so ( see Acts 9: 2; 18: 26; 19: 9, 23; 24: 22). How about you, what do you believe and why do you believe it?
