Why does modern man need God?

Introduction. There is the too common belief that ancient, benighted man needed God, but modern man in all his intelligence does not need God.

Man needs God to provide meaning and purpose to life. Godless evolution, humanism, and philosophy cannot satisfy man's basic needs. Man did not just originally happen, God created him (Gen. 1, 2). God has also told man why he (man) exists: "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments; for this is the whole of man" (Eccl. 12: 13-14). God wants man to be happy, however, man's happiness is conditional (1 Pet. 3: 10 ff). God seeks to provide order and structure to an otherwise chaotic existence (1 Cor. 14: 33, 40). God wants to help us develop ourselves, become saved, be good children and parents, and in general make a good contribution (Matt. 5: 48, Phili. 4: 8, Acts 16: 30 ff., Eph. 6: 1-4).

Man needs God to provide hope after death. All the philosophies of the world cannot offer hope beyond the grave. Jesus said, "I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live" (John 11: 25). Death is not the end – it is the beginning! God allows man to choose how he shall spend his eternity. Those who humbly submit to God's will and teaching shall have the bliss of heaven and those who elect to disobey shall spend an eternity in everlasting punishment (Matt. 25: 31-46, Rom. 2: 6-11).

Conclusion. The answers to the ills of society is not more gun control, increased security, and mind controlling drugs. We urgently need a restoration of biblical morals and values. This return needs to take place in religion, in our country, in families, in schools, and, of the greatest importance, in the hearts and lives of individuals. Yes, modern man needs God - without God there is chaos!
