How do we know God exists?
Introduction. Man has the basic dilemma of either believing there is a God, the Supreme Creator, or that man just happened (organic evolution).
The design implies a designer. David declared, "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handywork" (Psm. 19 :1). Truly, God has not left himself without witness (Acts 14: 17). As the scientist Sir Issac Newton observed, "...I see the earth at the right distance from the sun to receive the proper amounts of heat and light. This did not happen by chance."
The law that life begets life. The scientist Louis Pasteur is credited with discovering the law of biogenesis. Beloved, it is a scientifically established fact that life does not come from nothingness. Hence, Paul affirmed that the living God made heaven, earth, the sea, and all things that are therein (Acts 14: 15).
The fossil record supports the existence of God. If life simply evolved, there would be millions of fossils proving crossovers between the different life forms. However, there is an obvious absence of variants in the fossil record. In other words, man is always a man and a frog is always a frog. The fossil records do not contain a half-man, half-frog.
The fact you exist proves God exists! No being as "fearfully and wonderfully made" as you are could have evolved from nothingness. As Thomas Edison remarked, "I'm no inventor worth talking about", Edison said pointing to heaven, "that's the real inventor."
